SERVING OUR WHITE LICK CHURCH COMMUNITY
We believe that God calls us to be fed through worship and education and then to feed others by serving. At White Lick, we hope everyone finds a way to use their God-given spiritual gifts to further Christ’s mission. In-reach is the way We serve our congregation and help lift-up and maintain the people and the place where we are called into worship together. Speak with the pastor about ways you might get involved as a servant of Christ through our church. Here are some suggestions:
Sunday Lunch: The first Sunday of each month (except Holiday Weekends) White Lick hosts lunch after the 10:30 worship service.
Ministry Teams: White Lick depends heavily on the ministry teams of the congregation. These teams include Buildings and Grounds, Christian Education, Hospitality, Worship, Finance, Personnel, Missions, and Outreach. The servant leaders of each team volunteer their time and energy to continue the vital work of White Lick Presbyterian and help fulfill its vision of Living into Christ's call for us and our neighbors.
Presbyterian Women meet on the third Monday of the month; these monthly meetings are currently disrupted due to the coronavirus. All women of the church are automatically members of PW. Presbyterian Women support church ministries, local food pantries, and provide Christmas cheer baskets to shut-ins. Their main fundraiser is the November chili supper.
Deacons tend to the welfare of the congregation with each deacon responding to an assigned number of members. Deacons are elected by the congregation for three-year terms and meet monthly to pray for and discuss specific needs within the congregation. Deacons serve meals at funerals, take meals to the sick, and serve extended communion among other duties. The Deacons sponsor several fellowship events during the year including a winter game night, a summer women’s retreat, and the Fall Masquerade Party.
Ruling Elders have a much bigger job than the administration of church functions. Ruling elders are charged with the spiritual growth of the church community. Elders ensure that worship is properly performed; the sacraments of baptism and communion are administered, and the overall welfare of the church community is nurtured. Elders are elected for three-year terms on the session.
Both ruling elders and deacons are ordained for life with the same vows as Ministers of Word and Sacrament.
