SERVING OUR NEIGHBORS
We believe that God calls us to be fed through worship and education and then to feed others by serving. At White Lick, we hope everyone finds a way to serve through outreach or in-reach. Outreach is the way we go out into our community and the world and seek to serve the least and lost of our world, sharing the love of Christ with all that we meet. Through serving others we can best meet our Vision of Living into Christ’s call for us and our neighbors. Many of our church members are involved in outreach efforts of various forms in the area as well as internationally. Listed below are the primary outreach efforts supported by the entire church.
Bread for the World is a Christian advocacy organization urging U.S. decision makers to do all they can to pursue a world without hunger. Our mission is to educate and equip people to advocate for policies and programs that can help end hunger in the U.S. and around the world. https://www.bread.org/
Brownsburg Older Adult Alliance (BOAA): Brownsburg Older Adult Alliance, Inc. (BOAA) is a 501(c)3 organization which was founded in November 2015 by five women who joined together to enhance the lives of older adults in Brownsburg and its surrounding areas. BOAA’s free activities provide an opportunity for seniors to build friendships, a chance to laugh, have fun, and simply be together. Call and leave a message on (317) 440 - 5110 the Monday beginning the week of the activity.

Family Promise of Hendricks County: Our congregation has strengthened its relationship this past year due to the increasing needs of families hit by the coronavirus. Recent projects have been supplying the Plainfield center with hygiene products and contributions of toys for Santa Shop. Instead of providing financial assistance to families at our church, we direct them to Family Promise who have staff and resources to provide a holistic approach to a family in crisis. If you need help, contact Family Promise at https://familypromisehendrickscounty.org/
Indy Love Train - homeless folks “shop” on the third Saturday of each month at Unity of Indianapolis for clothing, hygiene products, and snack items. https://www.facebook.com/groups/230609000337631/
Isaiah 117 House - provides physical and emotional support in a safe and loving home for children awaiting placement into foster care. https://isaiah117house.com/
PAL: Two members of our congregation started the first chapter of PAL (Parents of Addicted Loved Ones) with a passion to reach the growing number of families struggling with loved ones who suffer from the disease of addiction. This support group meets each Thursday evening at 6:30-8 PM in Fellowship Hall. Even during the pandemic, it has been important for this group to continue to meet due to the severity of the issue.
In the midst of the fear and feeling of hopelessness, PAL reminds you that you are not alone. Attending that first meeting is often met with guilt and embarrassment which is quickly overcome when that first-timer realizes he/she is not alone and others have had mutual feelings. You quickly realize that you cannot control the one addicted but you can control how addiction impacts you and your family. If you would like to speak confidentially about your situation, complete a Contact Us form.
Sheltering Wings: As partners with this Hendricks County domestic abuse shelter, our congregations support this emergency shelter for men, women, and children who are caught in abusive relationships. Presbyterian Women provide special gifts for women for Mother’s Day and donations and contributions go to support this vital ministry. If you need help, contact the center at https://shelteringwings.org/
Susie’s Place
Susie’s Place was initially developed to provide a safe and neutral, non-leading, non-suggestive place for children to speak regarding allegations of crimes against them. We see our interviews as the start of a healing process for children. When they come to us this may be the end of a bad situation and the start of something better. In addition to that, they assist with court support during hearings as requested, and linking families to community resources, partner organizations and mental health providers. Our advocate is that link, keeping families informed and addressing any concerns or fears they might have on both a fact-based and holistic level. Contact Susie’s Place at https://susiesplace.org/
The Miles We Walk - is a non-profit organization that supports, educates, and empowers at-risk youth and adults through workshops, training, and resource support assistance. https://www.themileswewalk.com/
